Terms of Use & Privacy

digi-id.io is an open-source, volunteer-run website about the Digi-ID protocol. It has no accounts, sells nothing and does not track you. The short version: use it freely, at your own risk. The only personal data that leaves your browser is what you choose to send through the optional contact form.

Terms of use

1. Who runs this site

This site is maintained by volunteers from the DigiByte community in the open-source digi-id-io repository. It is not operated by a company, and no one is paid to run it.

2. Licence

The site's source code, including the example code and the digiid-core library, is released under the MIT licence. You may use, copy, modify and redistribute it, including commercially, as that licence allows. The Digi-ID and DigiByte names and logos identify the community projects; please don't use them in a way that suggests endorsement of your product.

3. The demo and playground

The sandbox demo and signature playground run entirely in your browser. The demo's simulated wallet uses a throwaway key that is never stored or sent anywhere. Never enter a real recovery phrase or private key into any website, including this one — nothing here will ever ask you to.

4. No warranty

The site, documentation, code samples and libraries are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Security-sensitive code should be reviewed and tested before you rely on it in production. To the extent permitted by law, the contributors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of this site or its materials.

5. Third-party sites and services

We link to wallets, libraries and other projects. Listing in the ecosystem is based on public proof of Digi-ID support, not an endorsement or audit. Those sites have their own terms and privacy policies. Account problems with a service that uses Digi-ID must be resolved with that service.

6. Contributions

Issues, pull requests and ecosystem submissions are welcome on GitHub and are subject to GitHub's terms. By contributing, you agree your contribution is licensed under the MIT licence.

7. Changes

These terms may change as the site evolves. Changes are made in the public repository, so the full history is always visible, and the date at the top of this page is updated.

Privacy policy

What we collect

The site has no sign-up, no analytics and no advertising or tracking cookies. The only feature that accepts personal information is the optional contact form.

Contact form

If you submit the contact form, the name, email, organization, interest and message you enter are sent from your browser to Web3Forms, a form processor that forwards them by email to a volunteer DigiByte community member. They are used only to reply to you and are not published, sold or added to mailing lists. Nothing is sent unless you press “Send message”. See the Web3Forms privacy policy. To ask for a message to be deleted, contact us via GitHub Discussions without posting personal details.

What stays in your browser

  • Theme choice: if you switch between light and dark mode, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage so it persists. It never leaves your device.
  • Preferred code language: the language tab you pick in code samples is remembered the same way.
  • Demo keys: held in memory only and discarded when you leave or refresh the page.

You can clear these at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Hosting

The site is served as static files by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may process technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect its service; see the GitHub Privacy Statement. Fonts, icons, scripts and the explainer video are served from this site, not from third-party CDNs.

GitHub interactions

If you open an issue, discussion or pull request, that happens on GitHub under your GitHub account and is public.

Children

The site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
